The Resources attribute is used to describe the type and quantity of resource(s) required to complete an activity. The Stations attribute is used to describe the number of an activity that can be performed concurrently.
Consider a transport activity that requires 2 operators to move a single item. If there are 10 operators available to perform transports and 2 are required for each, then the number of transports that can be performed at once is 5.
Consider a test activity that requires a technician for 20 minutes and an inspector for 10 minutes. If there are 5 technicians and 4 inspectors, the number of tests that can be performed concurrently is 4.
Consider a mail sorting operation with 2 mail clerks working at a single sorting table. It usually takes 2 hours, but can take from 1 to 4 hours, to sort 500 pieces of mail.
Consider a mail sorting operation with 2 mail clerks working independently for 2 to 3 hours each day to sort a total of 500 pieces of mail. If the mail clerks work independently at separate workstations, the 500 pieces of mail will be divided between the 2 stations for processing (batch size).
